The Saint John Police Force has arrested a 29-year-old woman for allegedly using a fake ID to obtain merchandise.

Police responded to a Consumers Drive business at 1:39 p.m. Tuesday for reports of a woman trying to buy cell phones using a fake ID.

The business owner said they were aware of a similar incident that occurred over the weekend in Fredericton, where someone using the same name on the fake ID reportedly stole thousands of dollars in merchandise from a business.

The suspect was arrested for fraud, uttering forged documents and obstruction. She remained in custody as of Wednesday afternoon.

Investigators are asking anyone with information regarding this incident, or who may have encountered a similar occurrence, to contact the Saint John Police Force at 506-648-3333 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
