Youth female firefighting camp coming to Thunder Bay

By CJ Goater May 22, 2024 | 6:06 PM

A firefighting camp for girls is coming to Thunder Bay.

Camp Molly pays tribute to the first female firefighter on record in North America, Molly Williams. In 2019, the fire departments of Halton Region hosted the Inaugural camp.

The camp allows teens to step inside the world of firefighting with activities like fire suppression, auto extrication, fire prevention, media relations, and more.

The camp’s goal is to show young females aged 15 to 18 that a career in the fire service is a possible and rewarding option for them.

In 2024 Camp Molly is being run in 10 municipalities across the country free of charge.

Registration for the Thunder Bay camp is open and will remain open until July 5.

The camp is running from September 5-8.
