Four new public housing projects are coming to Western Nova Scotia in Liverpool, Shelburne, Digby and Wedgeport.

Housing Minister John Lohr announced that the projects will include 26 new modular housing units that will be built in the next 12 months.

“Our government is making the largest investment in public housing in over three decades to provide more Nova Scotians with safe and affordable housing,” said Minister Lohr. “We’re using modular construction to ensure these new homes are ready for individuals and families as quickly as possible.”

The four new projects will cost $11.8 million to construct which are in addition to the 247 units previously announced, bringing the number of new public housing units in the province to 273.

If fully utilized the 26 new units will provide housing for up to 82 people.

Fourteen of the units will be ground floor, fully accessible units.

As the projects are all modular the structures will be built offsite and then transported to their respective locations.
