Initiative launched for growing N.B. TV and film workforce

If you’ve wanted to work in the film and television industry, now is your chance.

With an influx of producers choosing New Brunswick as their backdrop, a group of independent local production companies have announced an initiative aimed at cultivating and expanding its crew workforce.

The event is free to the public and will be held on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Saint John Arts Centre.

Organizer Vanessa King says this initiative aims to connect individuals and tradespeople with employment opportunities within the film and television industry in New Brunswick.

“Medics, if you’re a nurse, we need seamstresses, we need educators. There’s literally a job for everybody on a film set and I say that not even in jest,” said King.

“We have amazing workers, we have incredible sensory, we have the drive and the desire, we just need the production to show up, and in order for that to happen, we just need crew.”

Those selected will work on a television series filmed in Saint John this fall.
