Air Transat returning to Moncton with 5 weekly flights

By Brad Perry May 21, 2024 | 6:25 AM

Greater Moncton residents will have plenty of sun destinations to choose from this winter.

Air Transat has unveiled its winter offerings from the Greater Moncton International Airport.

Courtney Burns, president and CEO of the airport authority, said the airline will once again offer five weekly flights.

“It’s the same destinations that they offered this past winter. Once weekly to Varadero, Cuba, twice weekly to Orlando, Florida, once weekly to Cancun, Mexico, and then once weekly to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic,” Burns said in a recent interview.

More details about when the routes will launch and which days they will fly are expected to be released in the coming weeks.

We are also expecting to learn more about Sunwing Airlines’ plans for the winter months in the near future. The airline offered seven weekly flights last winter.

“What is typically a softer time of year, our sun charter program during the winter months really helps in terms of smoothing out the ebb and flow of our passenger traffic,” said Burns.

“We get upwards of 60,000 passengers a year from our sun charter program, so it’s certainly a significant contribution to the local economy.”

Burns noted that both airlines performed very well this past winter and they are excited to see what happens in the upcoming season.
