Miraculously no injuries after transport truck topples from overpass

By Steve MacArthur May 16, 2024 | 3:13 PM

It was gridlock around Halifax for several hours after multiple crashes, including a spectacular incident which occurred when a transport truck plowed through a set of guard rails and off an overpass.

It happened on Thursday afternoon when the 18-wheeler toppled off an overpass on Highway 101 and eventually landed on the busy Highway 102 underneath.

Devan Parson was in traffic at the time and watched the ordeal take place.

“I watched it coming from Sackville heading toward Bedford and it cut across traffic and went off the overpass.” he told our newsroom.

It is not known what caused the crash and remarkably no one was hurt by the truck.

“I stopped for fuel and my father was behind me in the other dump truck heading for the quarry and he watched the truck come down and him and another fella pulled buddy out of the truck.” described Parsons.
