Halifax police arrested a man for driving 148 km/h in a 60 km/h zone on Monday.

An officer saw the car at about 9 a.m. on Highway 111 near Woodland Avenue, according to a news release from Halifax Regional Police.

The 21-year-old driver was ticketed for stunting, meaning he was driving more than 50 km/h over the speed limit.

The fine in Nova Scotia costs$2,422.50 and six points are taken off the driver’s license. Police also seized the vehicle and suspended the driver’s license for seven days, police say.

“In a continued effort to address traffic safety issues and educate citizens on the rules of the road, our officers focus on speed enforcement,” the release says.
