The Ontario Provincial Police is investigating a death in Sioux Lookout.

On Friday officers received a report of a person being taken to hospital where they later died.

A post-mortem examination is being conducted at the Centre of Forensic Sciences in Toronto to determine the cause of death.

Investigators do not believe there is a threat to public safety at this time.

The investigation by the OPP North West Region Crime Unit and OPP Forensic Identification Services is continuing along with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

Anyone with information regarding this incident or who may have been in Sioux Lookout in the area of Queen Street and Sixth Avenue on Thursday between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. is asked to contact the Sioux Lookout OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
