A Shelburne woman faces multiple charges following an alleged stabbing Friday night.

At about 10 p.m., police responded to a report of a stabbing near the 100 block of King Street in Shelburne, according to a news release from the Nova Scotia RCMP.

Police say two women who knew each other were involved in an argument outside of a home when one stabbed the other with a knife.

A 26-year-old Welshtown woman had serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

A short time later, police say they found the 31-year-old Shelburne woman inside a nearby home.

Police searched the area using police dogs and found a knife they believe was used in the stabbing, the release says.

Sabrina Lynn Marie Urquhart, 31, faces charges of:

  • attempted murder
  • aggravated assault

Urquhart was held in custody and will appear in Yarmouth provincial court on Monday.

The investigation continues.
