Bridgewater native Luke Woodworth has had an impressive first full season as the Drummondville Voltigeurs captain, leading them to the top of their division in the regular season and now to the Presidents Cup.

“We knew we had a good team that had a chance to compete early on and we added some pieces and really bought into the system through the year,” said Woodworth. “It’s been a hell of a year and we are hoping to keep that going into the finals,”.

Woodworth is currently eighth in QMJHL playoff points with 16, following up on his regular season tally of 62 points in the 62 games he played.

He credits the success to the team’s hard work and the great players around him, “A team-first approach has been something we’ve developed over the year and with the talent we have at all positions out there on the ice it makes things easier for all of us,”.

The Volts will take on the Baie Comeau Drakkar who defeated the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in five games in the Easter Conference Championships. The Drakkar had a better record in the regular season and will have a home-ice advantage for the series.

“It’s a small arena, with great support from the fans, but we’re just looking to stick to our game and trust what got us this far,” said Woodworth.

Game one of the series gets underway Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in Baie Comeau.

Woodworth has one year of junior hockey eligibility remaining which he fully expects to be played in Drummondville.
