A 34-year-old Thunder Bay resident has died following a collision in Shuniah.

Early Sunday morning emergency services responded to a burning car in a ditch along Lakeshore Drive.

On scene investigation revealed that the vehicle was heading eastbound before it left the road and came to rest in the eastbound ditch ablaze.

The driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and was later pronounced deceased at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

The OPP North West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team and OPP Collision Re-constructionists are assisting with the ongoing investigation.
