Endangered species focus of meetings in Moncton

By Tara Clow May 6, 2024 | 12:39 PM

Twelve wildlife species will be the focus of meetings in Moncton this week.

The Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada examines species currently at risk of extinction.

During their meetings being held from May 6 to 9, the species they’ll look at include the Narwhal, sometimes called the unicorn of the sea; the currently Threatened Salish Sucker; and the Kirtland’s Warbler, a Jack Pine specialist recently removed from the Endangered Species list in the United States.

The group meets twice a year to review wildlife species’ status.
