A 42-year-old man was allegedly stabbed multiple times by a youth on Sunday.

Halifax RCMP says the man suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

RCMP responded to a weapons complaint on Prospect Bay Road at about 9:10 a.m. and learned the man was stabbed on the way to the scene, according to a news release.

When officers arrived, they found the man outside of a residence. Police say he was stabbed multiple times after a “verbal argument” with a male youth he knew.

The young person voluntarily came out of the residence and police arrested him, the release says.

RCMP have not revealed the age of the youth.

The young person faces charges of:

  • attempted murder
  • aggravated assault
  • possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • assault with a weapon
  • uttering threats

Police held the youth in custody. He will appear in court today.
