COVID outbreak declared at Rainycrest

A COVID outbreak has been declared at Rainycrest Long Term Care in Fort Frances.

Riverside Health Care says it is, so far isolated to the home’s west wing.

Restrictions on visitors, admissions, discharges and large group activities are now in place until further notice.

Enhanced visitor restrictions allow for no more than two visitors or caregivers at a time in the affected units.

Visits must also take place in the residents’ rooms, with exceptions given for palliative care visitation.

Visitors should only visit one resident per visit in the outbreak areas.

Masking is also required for both staff and visitors when in the designated outbreak areas

The public is reminded to prevent getting and spreading infections by:

• Washing hands often, for at least 15 seconds, with soap and warm water or by using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer,

• Maintaining good cough and sneeze etiquette (into a tissue, your sleeve or elbow),

• Putting all used tissues in the garbage right away,

• Avoiding touching your eyes, nose, or mouth, and

• Staying at home if sick to avoid spreading infections to others.
