Conservative leader reprimanded for calling Trudeau a ‘wacko’

The federal Conservative leader was kicked out of the House of Commons on Tuesday for using unparliamentary language.

Pierre Poilievre called Prime Minister Justin Trudeau a “wacko” during a heated exchange in question period.

Poilievre was questioning the Liberal leader about a federal policy that allowed British Columbia to decriminalize some hard drugs.

“When will we put an end to this wacko policy by this wacko prime minister?” asked the Conservative leader.

Speaker Greg Fergus asked Poilievre several times to withdraw his “unparliamentary language.”

The Conservative leader refused, instead saying he would replace the word “wacko” with “extremist” or “radical.”

The speaker ordered Poilievre to leave for the rest of the day, prompting all Conservative MPs to walk out as well.

Before this all happened, Trudeau had called Poilievre a “spineless” leader and accused him of courting “far-right white nationalist groups.”

That prompted Conservative MP Rachel Thomas to accuse the speaker of acting in “a disgraceful manner” for not asking Trudeau to withdraw his comment. Fergus then ordered Thomas to leave for the rest of the day.
