Deadline extended for property tax exemption

By Caitlin Snow Apr 30, 2024 | 12:27 PM

If you are on a low income, the Municipality of the District of Yarmouth wants to offer you a bit of a break.

The deadline has been extended to apply for the Low-Income Exemption Policy, which would provide a property tax exemption on your primary home of 50% or $200, whichever is less.

You can now apply up to August 30- the original cut-off date was May 15.

The municipality says the extension is to help make sure you have enough time to apply and to “reduce any potential barriers” in meeting the previous deadline.

If you need help filling out the form, you can drop by their office on 932 Hwy 1 in Hebron, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays.

You can also schedule a home visit with Senior Safety Coordinator Ashley directly at (902) 881-4099.
