Time is running out to register to Run for Women.

Spokesperson Tammy Rampersaud says the annual one, five, or 10-kilometre walk or run supports the Beausejour Family Crisis Resource Centre.

It’s being held this year on May 5 at Centennial Park in Moncton.

“People come out to support women and children at the Courage Centre. It’s physically located in Shediac, but services are offered mostly in southeastern New Brunswick, and throughout other parts of the province, as well as Nova Scotia. The Courage Centre is a centre of excellence. A lot of women, children, families, go there, if they’ve experienced trauma, if they’ve been victimized in any way, or suffered abuse, there are plenty of services offered through the Centre to help you through your journey,” Rampersaud says.

It is also one of the year’s first events for avid walkers or runners, and it helps kick off the season.

“It’s a huge and powerful event. We have testimonials from victims, we have representatives of all levels of government that bring greetings, and we have representatives from our main sponsor Shoppers Drug Mart. Kristal Leblanc is also the CEO at the Centre that speaks to the services that are offered. You can feel the power, the unity with everybody,” Rampersaud adds.

The deadline to register is April 30.
