Middle Musquodoboit water boil order lifted

By Jacob Moore Apr 25, 2024 | 1:49 PM

The boil water order for Middle Musquodoboit was lifted as of 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

Tests show that the water is safe for consumption based on regulations from the Medical Officer of Health and Nova Scotia Environment, according to a news release.

However, people in the area have to follow a few steps before drinking their water.

The water authority says people should:

  • Flush cold water through taps for ten minutes.
  • Follow manufacturer’s guidelines for cleaning household water filters, because they don’t typically remove bacteria and viruses.
  • Appliances that store water, like fridges or ice machines, should be flushed for ten minutes.
  • Dispose of ice from ice makers or trays that were made during the boil water order.

The boil order began Saturday evening after a pipe broke in the area. Although the pipe was fixed Sunday morning, the boil order remained in place as a precautionary measure, says Halifax Water.
