Robotic assisted surgery program reducing risks

By Tara Clow Apr 24, 2024 | 11:47 AM

Vitalité Health Network is applauding a newly added robotic-assisted surgery program.

Its first year at the George Dumont Hospital has enabled 322 patients to undergo minimally invasive surgery without complications.

Director of Surgical Services Dr. Jocelyne Hebert says the new program helps reduce the risk of complications, speeds up recovery and helps shorten hospital stays.

The Dumont acquired their robotics technology and began their robotics program in early 2023.

Six surgeons are currently trained to use the robot.
