A local student is going to win a scholarship through Divert Nova Scotia.

The ‘Champion of the Environment’ scholarship will grant $2,500 to a Grade 12 student in Yarmouth or Digby county.

There is also a $2,500 provincewide scholarship for CSAP schools.

Education coordinator with Waste Check Anne LeBlanc says they hope to see lots of students applying.

“International, French and English students, even students who are in the Immersion program and going to an English school, and want to apply in French, they’re more than welcome to,” said LeBlanc.

The scholarships go to a student who cares about the environment.

The deadline to apply is April 28.
