Thick black smoke covered north end Halifax after a fire at a construction site.
Smoke could be seen filling up the sky as people made their way to work on Tuesday morning.
The fire broke out around 8 a.m. on one of the upper levels of an apartment building that’s currently under development.
It’s located at the corner of Robie and Almon where a number of new residential buildings are being built.
By 9 a.m. the situation was under control.

Video footage shows a series of explosions where the fire was burning, reports indicate they were related to propane tanks.

Police and fire crews remain on the scene and are asking drivers to avoid the area.
Residents are being told to close their windows and shut off air exchangers.
