Nova Scotia is home to the best hidden gem golf course in the country according to a new rankings released by NBC.

Sherwood Golf and Country Club located 20 minutes from Chester was given top honours in the 2024 NBC GolfPass’ annual Golfers’ Choice ranking list.

Based on thousands of user reviews the list recognizes some of Canadas’ lesser known golf destinations, that may often be overlooked.

They use the GolfPass’ Ratings Index logic that weighs newer reviews and combines it with a course’s subcategory averages. Courses are eligible for the rating if they offer public access and have received at least two reviews in 2023 to be eligible for this year’s list.

According to some of the reviews, Sherwood offers a healthy mix of challenge and reward for golfers new and old alike with tight fairways and welcoming staff and accommodations that make for an ideal golf getaway.

The list only featured one other course in Nova Scotia with Clare Golf and Country Club (N.S.) ranking eleventh.

Sherwood is set to open for the season on April 26.
