Murder charge laid in eastern N.B. homicide: RCMP

A 70-year-old man from Pointe-Sapin has now been charged with first-degree murder following an alleged homicide in the eastern New Brunswick community.

RCMP responded to a report of shots fired at a residence on Route 117 in Pointe-Sapin at around 2 p.m. Saturday.

A 52-year-old man was found dead at the scene. No one else was injured during the incident.

Police quickly located a 70-year-old man and arrested him for murder in connection with the investigation.

The suspect appeared in court by way of tele-remand on Sunday and was charged with first-degree murder

He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court on Tuesday.
