Halifax West High School lifts hold and secure after nearby stabbing

By Steve MacArthur Apr 15, 2024 | 12:48 PM

A high school in the Lacewood area has lifted its security measures after a stabbing in the community.

Halifax West was placed under a hold and secure while police investigated the incident but an update just before 1 p.m. indicates it’s back to normal at the school.

The Halifax Regional Centre for Education called it a precautionary measure.

Police say it was related to a youth being stabbed by another youth.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment.

The suspect is described as a white, in his late teens with long dark brown hair, approximately 5’7” tall, wearing a blue ball hat, a white hooded sweatshirt and grey faded jeans.

The investigation is in the early stages.

A police presence will remain in the area as the investigation continues and officers search for the suspect.
