The Southwest Storm couldn’t close out another Nova Scotia Regional Junior Hockey League title on home ice.

They fell 7-3 to the East Hants Penguins in Game 6 in front of hundreds in Barrington Saturday night.

The Storm took an early 1-0 lead, but East Hants scored four times in the second period and three more in the third to run away with it.

Southwest’s goals were scored by Ryan Warner, Brady Nickerson and Riley Hemeon, and Tyson Peters took the loss in goal with 33 saves.

It’s the second straight loss for the Storm, who will meet the Pens on visiting ice for Game 7 Sunday.

Storm Head Coach Andrew Holland says it’s not the first time they’ve had their backs against the wall.

“We’re not going to bury our heads, we’re going to go up there Sunday and give it our best effort,” said Holland.

He noted the East Hants powerplay is deadly, as they scored twice with the man-advantage.

“You can’t give them odd-man rushes, you can’t give them powerplays. We have to stay out of the box in Game 7 and get more pucks to the net.”

The Storm will be looking for their third straight NSRJHL title.

The winner of Sunday’s game will move on to the Maritime championships in Miramichi later this month.
