Public input sought on NB Power’s rate application

New Brunswick residents are being invited to give their feedback on NB Power’s rate application.

The province’s electric utility requested a 9.8 per cent rate hike this year and again in 2025.

While this year’s increase has been approved on an interim basis, it still faces a hearing by the New Brunswick Energy and Utilities Board.

The provincial energy regulator is scheduled to hold a virtual public forum on Wednesday, May 1, via Zoom.

“Members of the public may attend and comment on any aspect of NB Power’s rate application,” the board said on its website.

There will be an afternoon session from 2 to 4 p.m. and an evening session from 6 to 8 p.m.

You can register by emailing general@nbeub.ca or calling 506-658-2504 until 4 p.m. on April 26.

If you would prefer to provide written comments, they can be submitted to the board by email until 4:30 p.m. on May 3.

The board will hold a full public hearing to review NB Power’s application beginning on Monday, May 13, at 9:30 a.m.
