McLaughlin Street fire contained in garage

By CJ Goater Apr 12, 2024 | 11:54 AM

Thunder Bay Fire and Rescue successfully put out a garage fire on McLaughlin Street on Thursday.

Just before 3:00 p.m., TBFR responded to a report of a structure fire on the city’s east end.

Upon arrival, crews were met with heavy smoke and fire coming from the front of a garage.

Fire crews wearing self-contained breathing apparatus were able to stop the advancing fire from extending to the nearby homes ensuring the fire damage was confined to the garage.

Paramedics assessed the residents for smoke inhalation but no injuries were reported.

TBFR is reminding residents to stay well back from the scene of emergencies. Live wires to the garage had fallen in the back lane due to the fire. This safety issue was addressed by TBFR and remedied by Synergy North.
