The North Grove to celebrate volunteers

By Caitlin Snow Apr 12, 2024 | 12:32 PM

A community hub in Dartmouth North is getting ready to celebrate its volunteers.

The North Grove says there are 165 people who give their time to the organization and logged a record-breaking 10,000 plus hours over the past year.

To acknowledge all of their work, next week will have activities that everyone can enjoy.

The North Grove says volunteers fill 150 shifts every week in programs that range from cooking to tax clinics.

Volunteer Manager, Catherine Morley says volunteering has decreased across Canada, so that makes them even more grateful.

“Volunteers tell us that they choose to spend their time at The North Grove because of the positive and friendly atmosphere, and because they feel valued and respected.”

The North Grove says, last year with the help of volunteers, they connected with more than 400 families and served more than 44,000 meals and snacks to families and individuals.

National Volunteer Week (April 14-20) activities include:

  • Monday, April 15, 12:00-1:00 p.m.: Volunteer Coffee Hou
  • Tuesday, April 16, 3:00-4:00 p.m.: Taco Tuesday for Youth Volunteers
  • Wednesday, April 17, 5:00-7:00 p.m.: Volunteer Bingo Night
  • Friday, April 19, 2:00-4:00 p.m.: Volunteer Appreciation Party
