Drag Queen Storytime returns

By CJ Goater Apr 9, 2024 | 3:36 PM

The Thunder Bay Public Library has announced that Drag Queen Storytime is returning.

“Storytime with Thunder Bay Drag Queens celebrates diversity and teaches inclusion and acceptance in a safe space,” explained the TBPL in a release. “Programs like Storytime with Thunder Bay Drag Queens are selected based on the interests of our community and we encourage all patrons to attend programs that resonate with their own family values.”

The event was cancelled in March following a bomb threat at the Mary J.L. Black Library, which targeted storytime.

“We’re not going to be fear mongered, we are not going back into the closet, we’re not going to stop doing the work that is necessary and needed,” explained Rainbow Collective President Jason Veltri. “We’re so thrilled that the Library is doubling down on holding these really important events for children and their families who wish to attend.”

The event will return on Saturday, April 13 at 11:00 a.m. and Saturday, May 11 at 11:00 a.m. at the Waverley Resource Library, and Saturday, June 8 at 2:30 pm at the Mary J.L. Black Library.
