The Town of Shelburne is celebrating a birthday.
It was this day 117 years ago that the town was incorporated.
Of course it was long before that in 1783 when the first foreign settlers arrived in Shelburne.
The Mi’kmaq were established in the area.
The new town quickly became a fishing and shipbuilding centre, and Dock Street became vital.
Today, the industries remain the economic backbone of the area.
