No risk to public safety after Cole Harbour schools enter hold and secure: RCMP

By Jacob Moore Apr 4, 2024 | 12:51 PM

A hold and secure at schools in Cole Harbour was lifted after RCMP determined there was no threat to public safety.

RCMP received a report of a suspicious man in the area around noon, according to Cpl. Guillaume Tremblay.

Halifax Transit services were temporarily suspended in the area due to a police presence, affecting routes 59, 61,63,65,68, and 40, according to a social media.

Transit has since resumed.

Schools in the area also entered into a hold and secure. The hold and secure has since been lifted, according to Lindsey Bunin, communications office for the Halifax Regional Centre for Education.

However, the RCMP says there is now no risk to the public.

Tremblay says that, in a populated area like Cole Harbour, the police would have expected to receive more than one complaint about the suspicious man, but they did not.
