Halifax ultra-marathoner running across Canada for Heart & Stroke Foundation

By Kelli Rickard Apr 2, 2024 | 10:59 AM

An ultra-marathoner from Halifax has begun a cross-country run to raise money for heart disease research.

Inspired by Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope in 1980, Ryan Keeping kicked off his journey in St. John’s, NL Monday and is scheduled to end in Victoria, BC.

He aims to cover 75 kilometres a day -almost two marathons- for 99 days.

Keeping is raising money for the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada because many of his family members have been affected by heart disease.

Keeping says 80% of the funds raised will go to the foundation, while 20% will be used for expenses during his coast-to-coast run.
