New Brunswick’s lowest-paid workers are earning a bit more as of Monday.

The province’s minimum wage has increased by 55 cents to $15.30 per hour.

For someone working 40 hours a week, this works out to an extra $22 before taxes.

Officials said the increase matches the province’s inflation rate, which grew 3.6 per cent last year.

In addition, the federal minimum wage is increasing by 65 cents to $17.30 per hour.

This applies to about 30,000 Canadians working in the federally-regulated private sector.
