Harbour Bridge construction resumes next week

The annual headaches on Saint John’s Harbour Bridge are about to return for another year.

Construction work is set to resume on Tuesday, April 2, as part of a multi-phase project.

That means the bridge will be down to one lane in each direction for several months.

The Chesley Drive on-ramp to the bridge will be closed, but the off-ramp will remain open.

“Delays are expected for traffic in both directions approaching the bridge during this period,” said a post on the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure’s website.

The lane reductions are expected to remain in place until Nov. 30, according to the department.

The four-phase project began in 2021 and is expected to continue through 2026. It has a total price tag of $26.4 million.
