Prolonged rainfall for western N.S.

Western Nova Scotia is getting a major soaking.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement calling for prolonged rainfall in Annapolis, Digby, Lunenburg, Queens, Shelburne and Yarmouth counties.

Wednesday through Friday, 40 to 60 mm of rain, possibly 80 in heaviest downpours is expected in those parts of the province.

Rainfall rates of 15 mm per hour are possible during the heaviest downpours.

The forecaster warns of a risk of hazardous driving conditions with a possibility of water pooling on roadways, road shoulder erosion and washouts.

Do not drive through floodwaters.
