The Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre’s Ear, Nose and Throat  Specialty Clinic has received a Zeiss Operating Microscope through a donation from the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.

The microscope is equipped with electronic zoom and focus and can be used for in-office ear procedures and other examinations.

The new tool arrived alongside Dr. Paolo Campisi, an ears, nose, and throat specialist, who visits SLMHC every six months.

When he visits Sioux Lookout, he sees children and adults and conducts surgery and clinics. Dr. Campisi was accompanied by two fellows, Dr. Samantha Goh from England, and Dr. Alex Treble from Australia.

“This microscope will improve patient care. The ability to provide the service offered by Dr. Campisi has made a huge impact on our patients,” says The centre’s President and CEO Dean Osmond. “Getting pediatric ENT services closer to home has decreased wait times and cost of travelling to a major center.”

Dr. Campisi is also a Professor within the Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Toronto practicing at the Hospital for Sick Children.
