The death of an 18-year-old in North Preston is being investigated as a homicide, in what RCMP are describing as a senseless act of violence.

RCMP say they responded to a shooting on Downey Rd around 4:23 p.m., March 14.

Dieago Downey was found with a gunshot wound and taken to hospital, where he later died.

Sgt. Withrow asks if anyone has information about the incident to come forward.

“If you know what happened or have video of the area around the time of the shooting, please contact investigators; your willingness to speak up could make a difference in identifying those responsible for Mr. Downey’s death.”

The investigation continues.
