$3M senior housing project proposed in McAdam

A new affordable senior housing project has been proposed for the village of McAdam.

Officials said the 30 homes would be adjacent to a senior housing complex on Second Avenue.

Each home would have up to two bedrooms, be maintenance-free, and be equipped with a heat pump or baseboards.

Project Manager Guy Gravelle said the idea of the housing complex was due to having no room for seniors wanting to live in the complex.

“So we decided we gotta start thinking about expanding, and then we got the idea of doing small homes which is a better quality of life for seniors. Living in a big building in a square box is not healthy,” said Gravelle.

Gravelle said construction would cost around $3 million. He is hoping it could be completed by the end of the year.

A public information session will be held at the McAdam Lions Club at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Gravelle said a government official will be in attendance to answer questions.
