2 Webequie First Nation residents facing charges

The Nishnawbe Aski Police Service has arrested two Webequie First Nation residents in connection with an ongoing drug trafficking investigation in the Webequie First Nation community.

On Monday a search warrant was executed in the community leading to the arrests and the seizure of a quantity of cocaine, cash, and items associated with drug trafficking.

A 32-year-old Webequie First Nation resident has been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

A 33-year-old Webequie First Nation resident has been charged with; possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and failure to comply with a release order. The 33-year-old was previously arrested in February for drug trafficking.

The 32-year-old was released from custody with a future court date, and the 33-year-old remains in custody with a future court date.
