A grassroots organization continues its quest to save a historically significant lighthouse off southwestern Nova Scotia.
The Seal Island Lighthouse Preservation Society has written to heritage minister Pascale St. Onge for support.
They want to ensure the wooden structure is repaired to Heritage Lighthouse Protection Act standards.
The Department of Fisheries and oceans has said it’s investigating options to enable the expensive repairs the landmark requires.
Built in 1831, it’s the oldest wooden lighthouse in the province and the second oldest still in use in Canada.
