Saint John police investigate 2 property crime incidents

Saint John police say two property crime incidents on the city’s east side appear to be connected.

The first happened at a commercial site along St. Martins Road around 3:26 a.m. Sunday.

Investigators say property was stolen from several parked vehicles, and one of those vehicles was significantly damaged.

Surveillance video showed a suspect who appears to be wearing dark-coloured pants and a jacket with reflective material on it.

There appears to be a blue hooded sweater underneath the jacket with the hood pulled up over the suspect’s head, say police.

A short time later, at around 3:43 a.m., several sheds were broken into at a property located in the 4000 block of Loch Lomond Road.

Surveillance video showed a dark-coloured SUV parked behind the property. The suspect appeared to be wearing dark-coloured clothing with reflective material on the jacket.

“Detectives believe that these incidents are connected due to the proximity and timing of the crimes as well as the description of the suspect who appears on the video surveillance,” police said in a news release.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Saint John Police Force at 506-648-3333 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
