A cruise ship is slated to visit Yarmouth this spring.
It’s part of the inaugural voyage for the ‘SH Vega.’
The 113-metre luxury-liner will visit our area on May 20.
Neil MacKenzie with Yarmouth and Acadian Shores Tourism says it’s great to have more and more cruise ships visit the area.
“It’s really nice to see an inaugural cruise line visit Yarmouth that we haven’t seen before. It gives us an opportunity to build some long-term relationships,” said MacKenzie.
Passengers will go on a historical tour of Yarmouth, and visit places like Killam’s Wharf, John’s Cove and Cape Forchu.
“It’s always great to tell the story of our destination to the world, and try to get people to visit through multiple channels. Marine tourism is a great opportunity for the region.”
The vessel is operated by Swan Hellenic, a British cruise line that specializes in expedition tours of historical or cultural interest at the upper end of the cruise market.
MacKenzie says another cruise ship is scheduled for October.
