Thunder Bay drug bust results in 3 arrests

Three people including one Thunder Bay resident, and two Greater Toronto Area residents are facing several charges following the execution of an Ontario Provincial Police search warrant.

In January an investigation was started into individuals from the GTA who were suspected to be trafficking drugs in Thunder Bay.

On Thursday, a warrant was executed at a residence on Brock Street East leading to the seizure of:

  • More than 200 grams of fentanyl
  • More than 100 grams of cocaine
  • Nearly 170 grams of crack cocaine
  • One handgun
  • 15 rounds of ammunition
  • Five cell phones
  • More than $5,000 in Canadian currency
  • Drug trafficking paraphernalia

A 37-year-old Thunder Bay resident, and  a 29-year-old Scarborough resident, have been charged with:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking, crack cocaine
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking, fentanyl
  • Possession of proceeds in crime over $5,000

A 17-year-old from Brampton has been charged with:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking, crack cocaine
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking, fentanyl
  • Possession of proceeds in crime over $5,000
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon with ammunition
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Carry concealed prohibited device
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine
  • Possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000

The Nishnawbe Aski Police Service and Thunder Bay Police Service assisted the OPP in this investigation.

All accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on a later date.
