Fredericton police have not ruled out foul play after human remains were discovered at the city’s landfill.

Officers responded to the Capital Region Service Commission on Allison Boulevard around 10:45 a.m. Monday after landfill employees discovered human remains.

Police have since identified the man as 29-year-old Sterling Hunter of Fredericton.

“The individual’s death is not being investigated as a homicide, however, the possibility of foul play has not been ruled out as detectives continue to investigate the circumstances that led to the individual’s death,” police said in a news release on Wednesday.

Investigators are looking to speak with anyone who may have seen or spoken to Hunter since 2:30 a.m. on Monday.
