Bridge in Belleville closed due to flood waters

By Kevin Northup Mar 13, 2024 | 2:45 PM

Another bridge in Yarmouth County is closed due to flood waters.

It’s the Duck Lake bridge in Belleville located at civic 649.

The Department of Public Works closed the bridge Wednesday afternoon.

Shane Strong with Yarmouth’s regional emergency management office says water has reached the bridge.

“There is a way in and out for residents, the John Murray road that comes out onto Highway 308. It will be passable by truck and for emergency vehicles, but it’s too rough for cars,” said Strong.

He says Ground Search and Rescue teams are going door-to-door in the area to inform residents.

Strong suggests you avoid the area if possible.

This is the second bridge closure in under a week for the area.

The Frotten Road Bridge in Quinan remains closed due to high water.

The Bloody Creek Bridge in Upper Clyde is also closed, Barrington and Clark’s Harbour’s emergency office is keeping an eye on that situation.
