The Saint John Police Force has arrested a 38-year-old man in connection with an armed robbery investigation.

Officers say a 63-year-old man was assaulted on February 27 just after 3 a.m., when he was in his truck in a Saint John parking lot off Waterloo Street near Richmond Street.

A struggle ensued and the suspect damaged the truck, assaulted the man with an edged weapon, stole his wallet, and fled on foot, said police.

The man was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was later released.

Police began to investigate and on Tuesday the 38-year-old was arrested for robbery, aggravated assault, and mischief under $5,000. He is set to appear in court on Wednesday.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Saint John Police Force at 1-506-648-3333, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
