Water levels up a bit in Quinan, bridge still closed

Frotten Road Bridge in Quinan is still closed.

It shut down on Friday due to high water levels in the area, a walking bridge has been installed.

Shane Strong with Yarmouth’s regional emergency management office says they continue to monitor the situation.

“The water is up a little bit. An inch and a half on Monday, and probably another two inches today (Tuesday). There’s no water coming over the bridge or anything like that. We’re taking it day-by-day, and public works will let us know when it can re-open,” said Strong.

He says Monday’s high tides saw flooding in many coastal areas, including Yarmouth Bar.

Strong says you shouldn’t drive on a flooded road, especially when you can’t see the bottom.

The Bloody Creek Bridge in Upper Clyde closed Monday due to high water levels.

Barrington and Clark’s Harbour’s emergency office continues to monitor the situation.
