In a significant move toward enhancing its infrastructure, Chester has secured a substantial $2.2 million grant from the provincial government aimed at upgrading its wastewater systems.

The announcement was made by Chester MLA, Danielle Barkhouse, who emphasized that this investment will greatly bolster the capacity of the wastewater infrastructure in the region, facilitating the potential construction of additional housing units in the future.

This allocation of funds forms part of a broader provincial initiative, set to increase wastewater capacity to accommodate approximately 7,000 new housing units across the province.

With the funding in place, there’s a strict timeline to adhere to: the commencement of the project is slated for this spring, with completion mandated no later than March 2026, underscoring the urgency and importance of the initiative.
