Sea Dogs’ parent company to manage events at Market Slip stage

The parent company of the Saint John Sea Dogs is taking over programming on the new Market Slip stage.

City council voted on Monday night to enter into a licence agreement with JSM Sports Entertainment.

The company will provide “events, concerts, and general programming” on the state of the redeveloped waterfront space, now known as “Ihtoli-maqahamok — The Gathering Space”.

“The restaurant tenants and Market Square operators have expressed their desire to contract with JSM Sports Entertainment Inc. to provide the management service,” said a staff report.

“But since the space is owned by the city, the license to operate the space must come from the city.”

All expenses related to acts on the stage will continue to be borne by the restaurant tenants, said the report.

City officials say the physical construction of the new stage is nearing completion.
