Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating a motor vehicle collision in the city which occurred during a police pursuit, which sent one man to hospital with serious injuries.

It occurred around 5:30 p.m. on February 29th when an officer with the Thunder Bay Police Service attempted to stop the driver.

The pursuit ended when the cruiser and the SUV collided in the area of Neebing and Broadway Avenues.

A 31-year-old man driving the SUV was taken to hospital by Superior North EMS and diagnosed with a serious injury.

Meanwhile, a 35-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was not injured.

A spokesperson for the Thunder Bay Police Service says it is fully cooperating with the investigation and that the officer involved is now on administrative leave.
